Javeria Saud calls out disrespect to Allama Iqbal’s statue
Actor and television host Javeria Saud has voiced strong concern after a disturbing video surfaced online showing children behaving disrespectfully with the statue of Allama Muhammad Iqbal while adults stood by without intervening.
The video, originally shared by Pak247 News on Instagram, shows three children slapping the statue of the national poet as a bystander questions their actions.
Reposting the clip to her Instagram stories, Javeria captioned it with a pointed remark: “Uneducated minds build weak foundations, and weak foundations can never hold a strong nation.”
Her words revealed a deeper issue of poor moral guidance and lack of understanding.
In the video, the person filming asks the children, “Chapairein kyun maar rahay ho?” (Why are you slapping it?), to which one child replies, “Parhayi chhor kar gaya hai hamaray liye.”
The child seemingly meant that Allama Iqbal passed away but left behind a vast body of work that is taught in schools, work they find difficult to stud, prompting their misguided act.
Javeria, through her message, underscored how education is not limited to textbooks but extends to values, respect, and awareness. Her response pointed toward the responsibility of adults, parents, educators, and society at large, to guide children with patience and clarity, rather than leaving them to form distorted perceptions of national icons.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s role in shaping the idea of Pakistan remains central to the country’s identity.
