Shahrukh Khan's son Aryan Khan wins Best Debutant Director Award
Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, celebrated a significant milestone as he received the Best Debutant Director of the Year award at the NDTV Indian of the Year event held in New Delhi. The award recognized his work on the Netflix series The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, marking his successful entry into directing.

Accompanied by his emotional Nani, Savita Chhibber, Aryan accepted the honour with heartfelt gratitude. In his acceptance speech, he thanked his cast, crew, and Netflix for believing in a first-time director and working with enthusiasm and dedication.
“This is my first award, and I hope I win many more because, just like my dad, I really love awards,” Aryan said. However, he was quick to clarify, “But this award is not for him. This award is for my mom, because she always tells me to sleep early, not to make fun of people, and absolutely no abusive language… and today, I received this award for all those very things. Thank you for making my mom the happiest woman in the world, and I know that when I go home today, I’ll be scolded a little less.”

During the ceremony, Savita was unexpectedly invited to speak, a moment that took her by surprise. Overwhelmed with emotion, she shared her heartfelt joy, saying she was extremely happy and proud to see Aryan’s success being recognised across the country.
She described him as her “most loved grandson” and offered her blessings, adding that at her age, hearing about Aryan’s achievements and seeing him honoured meant everything to her.

Aryan, clearly moved by her words, responded with warmth and humility. Smiling throughout the exchange, he promised that his next award would be dedicated to her. “I promise, agla wala aapka hoga,” he said, before walking up to her, touching her feet as a mark of respect, and embracing her in a heartfelt hug, an intimate moment that resonated with many present at the event.
The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, released on September 18, 2025, is a satirical comedy that takes a sharp and humorous look at the Hindi film industry’s power struggles and the challenges faced by outsiders.
Featuring actors like Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, and Bobby Deol, the show also received critical acclaim and was recently named IMDb’s Most Popular Indian Series of 2025.

Aryan’s debut has been widely appreciated for its fresh perspective and engaging storytelling, marking an auspicious start to his career behind the camera.

This award not only celebrates his directorial talent but also shines a light on the supportive family that stands behind him, especially his mother, Gauri Khan, to whom he lovingly dedicated his win.
