Indian military officer attends SCO meeting in Pakistan
Seven-state moot reviews defence cooperation as well as joint military training and exercises

A senior Indian military officer visited Pakistan to attend a key SCO meeting on defence and security matters.
Brigadier Shamsher Singh was among several defence delegates who attended the event. He was seen standing on the extreme left of the official picture released by the Pakistani Army's media wing.
The 9th Defence & Security Expert Working Group (EWG) meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Islamabad on Feb 19-20.
The two-day event hosted by Pakistan as part of ‘SCO Defence & Security Cooperation Plan – 2020’ was first of its kind and was attended by seven permanent SCO members while Belarus participated as an observer.
Delegates from Russia, China, India and Central Asian Republics participated in the meeting which reviewed the cooperation among the SCO member states as well as joint military manoeuvres and training programmes.
The participating countries, besides Pakistan, were China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and India.
The delegates thanked Pakistan for successfully holding the SCO event and the hospitality offered to them.
The forum discussed different aspects of cooperation between the SCO member states' and regional security.
The participants also exchanged information and opinions on important issues of mutual interest including joint training and military exercises.
