In what could be termed a rare spectacle, the son of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Irrigation Liaqat Khattak, who is a brother of Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, was seen celebrating the victory of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate in PK-63 Nowshera by-election, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Ahad Khattak, who wanted PTI ticket for this seat, exploded firecrackers and partied with his friends to express joy over the victory of PML-N’s Ikhtiyar Wali Khan.
Meanwhile, sources have told 24News TV channel that the KP government has decided to strip Liaqat Khattak of his ministry following his role in the victory of PML-N candidate in PK-63 after he developed differences with his brother Defence Minister Pervez Khattak who had refused to hand his son Ahad PTI ticket for the seat, resulting in an upset in the constituency.
PML-N candidate Ikhtiyar Wali Khan had won the PK-63 (Nowshera) by-election held on Friday.
According to unofficial results of 102 polling stations, the PML-N candidate got 21,122 votes while his opponent PTI candidate Mian Umar secured 17,023 votes.
ANP candidate Mian Wajahat got 4,270 votes and TLP candidate Allama Sanaullah managed to get only 619 votes.
PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz thanked Almighty Allah for granting the party the crucial win in the Nowshera by-election.
