HRCP declares PECA Ordinance undemocratic, demands to withdraw

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) disapproved the amendments in the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA) through an Ordinance on Sunday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the HRCP in a statement issued from Islamabad on Sunday demanded immediate withdrawal of the ordinance.
The HRCP said that criticism of the proposed legislation has been declared non-bailable that is undemocratic.
The HRCP also said that critics of the government and state institutions will be targeted through this legislation.
