The ruling alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) head Maulana Fazlur Rehman termed President Arif Alvi's act of announcement of the election date constitutional misconduct and interference in the powers of the governors and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazl while commenting on the President's act said the matter of giving a date for by-elections of provinces is a clear violation of the constitution.
Maulana Fazl said President Alvi acted like a king and also proved himself a worker of the opposition party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by giving the date of the by-election in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
The PDM head said President Arif Alvi has interfered with the powers of the Governors of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Election Commission of Pakistan.
He added that the Election Commission will have to take strict action against President Alvi as it is clear misconduct from him.
