While hearing the petitions against the acceptance of the resignations of 70 more MNAs of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday suspended the order of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-notify the former PTI MNAs belonging to Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court also disposed of the petitions of Pervez Khattak and PTI MNAs from other provinces after they withdrew their pleas against the acceptance of their resignations.
The court sought a reply from the ECP on the petitions of the former MNAs from Punjab.
“The former MNAs from other provinces should approach the high courts concerned,” Justice Shahid Karim said.
LHC judge Justice Shahid Karim heard the petitions of former PTI MNAs including Fawad Chaudhry, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pervez Khattak, and Asad Umar.
Malik Karamat Khokhar, Shafqat Mehmood, Hammad Azhar, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Zartaj Gul, and Ali Nawaz Awan were among the petitioners.
Omar Ayub Khan, Asad Qaiser, Shehryar Afridi, Noorul Haq Qadri and others were also among the petitioners.
The National Assembly speaker, the ECP and others had been made respondents in the petitions.
“The speaker did not listen to the MNAs before accepting their resignations,” they said in their petitions.
“The ECP de-notified the members after the acceptance of resignations,” they added.
“The court should annul the move to accept the resignations of the PTI MNAs,” they demanded.
