CCD rejects HRCP allegations, claims significant cut in crime rate in Punjab

The spokesperson for the Crime Control Department (CCD), Punjab, on Friday rejected allegations by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) regarding extrajudicial killings, stating that there is no evidence to support such claims against the department.

According to the spokesperson, the CCD is actively striving to eradicate serious crimes across the province through targeted operations and effective enforcement strategies.

During encounters carried out as part of CCD operations, 19 police personnel were martyred while 167 others sustained injuries in the line of duty, the spokesperson said.

He claimed that CCD’s ongoing operations have led to an 80 percent reduction in the overall crime rate in Punjab. Robbery incidents have decreased by 78 percent, while murder cases have seen a 39 percent decline.

Similarly, robbery incidents in houses have dropped by 80 percent. Motorcycle theft has decreased by 69 percent, and car snatching incidents have been reduced by 50 percent across the province.

The spokesperson added that incidents of rape during robberies have been eliminated due to the department’s proactive measures. He maintained that through effective strategies and consistent operations, the CCD has broken the back of criminal networks and helped restore public confidence in law enforcement agencies.
