Dozens of MBBS seats in private medical colleges awaiting admissions

Dozens of MBBS seats in private medical colleges are still vacant due to a lack of interest of students in admissions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

In this regard, an important meeting of the principals of private medical colleges of Punjab held at the University of Health Sciences.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore presided over the meeting.

The meeting proposed to extend the date for completing admissions in private medical colleges of Punjab till February 28.

However, the decision will be subject to the approval of the Provincial Admissions Committee.

The meeting also decided that there will be no deduction in the fees of candidates who cancel their admissions by March 31.

Colleges were earlier given a deadline of February 13 to fill the vacant seats.

Even after this date, dozens of MBBS seats are still vacant in some colleges.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has recently extended the deadline for admissions.

In case of extension, candidates who have already been admitted will be required to obtain an NOC from their first college for admission to another college.

Such candidates can obtain NOC from their colleges till February 24 and no private medical college will refuse to issue NOC to any student. 

Private medical colleges will be able to complete admissions to their vacant seats from February 24 to February 28. 

There will be no further extension in the last date of admissions and the session will not be delayed in any case.
