Roelant Oltmans likely to head Pakistan hockey team as PHF undergoes major reshuffle

The proposed new management of the Pakistan hockey team has been presented to authorities, with significant changes expected both on and off the field, sources said on Friday.

According to details, Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans has been proposed as the head coach of the national side. Discussions are currently underway regarding his salary package, and sources said Oltmans has shown willingness to work with the Pakistan team. He is expected to join after financial matters are finalised.

Azfar Yaqoob will serve as assistant coach, while Abuzar Amrao has been appointed as the team’s video analyst, sources added. The management will also include a trainer and physiotherapist from the Pakistan Cricket Board, along with a coach from the Pakistan Sports Board.

Players have been directed to report to Lahore, where the first training camp has already begun. The initial session was held from midnight to 2am. A 22-member squad is being prepared to participate in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Ad Hoc President Mohiuddin Wani has summoned the team management to Islamabad tomorrow. An official announcement regarding the new setup is expected following his approval.

In a parallel development, major changes have taken place within the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). The resignations of PHF Secretary Rana Mujahid and Treasurer Pervez Bhandara have been accepted at a high level.

Earlier, Federation President Tariq Bugti had announced his resignation. Following his decision, both the secretary and treasurer also stepped down, marking a significant administrative shift within the federation.
