Six FIA officials arrested over corruption at Islamabad Airport
Two officers and four officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have been arrested on charges of corruption at Islamabad Airport, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Sources within the FIA said the arrests were made after allegations surfaced that several individuals had been allowed to travel using fake documents in exchange for bribes. The accused were reportedly posted in the immigration wing at Islamabad Airport.
The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle has registered a case against the six officials. Investigators allege that the accused facilitated the departure of multiple passengers on forged travel documents and received substantial sums of money in return.
All six suspects were taken into custody from the airport premises. Further investigations are underway.
According to sources, the FIA has sealed the case record as part of the ongoing inquiry.
