Imran, Gates talk about polio eradication campaign, anti-covid combat

Prime Minister Imran Khan and Bill Gates had a telephonic talk about the war on polio and anti-coronavirus combat on Thursday, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
The PM heaped praise on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for its outstanding efforts in the fight against poverty, disease, and inequality across the globe.
Imran Khan shared with Bill Gates his government’s feats in the fight against polio and appreciated the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s contribution.
The premier reiterated his government’s resolve to continue its effort to get rid of the crippling disease; saying that polio-free Pakistan is the top priority.
Braving odds in wake of the covid outbreak, anti-polio efforts have been going on, he said, adding that Pakistan recorded a sharp decline in polio cases in 2021 and just one case was reported last year.
He stressed the need for an equitable, timely, and widespread supply of corona vaccines. Bill Gates lauded the Pakistani government’s efforts to eradicate polio and reaffirmed his commitment to the cause.
