LHC orders to slap Rs200,000 fine on violators of smog order

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Friday extended the notification regarding the implementation of the smog order to close shops and restaurants at 10pm for one month, directing the administration to fine the shopkeepers up to Rs200,000 for not closing the shops, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The district administration said that in the light of the order of the LHC, all the private offices run by companies, private sector organisations and individuals in the city would remain closed on every Friday and Saturday till February 15.
It added that all the commercial markets, shopping malls, shops (wholesale and retail) would close their business by 10pm.
“On Sunday, all these businesses will remain open from 2pm to 10pm,” it stated.
“The medical stores, pharmacies, hospitals, laboratories, petrol stations, CNG stations, bakeries, milk shops, meat shops, ovens, and tyre puncture shops are exempted from this order,” it declared.
“All the restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, cafes and other eateries in the city will remain open from Monday to Thursday till 10pm, and they will be closed at 11pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” it added.
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali said that the LHC’s orders would be implemented in letter and spirit.
