India and UAE agree to boost trade to $200 billion, seal LNG deal

India and the United Arab Emirates on Monday signed key agreements covering defence cooperation, trade expansion, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply during a brief visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to New Delhi.

 Mohammed bin Zayed was in India on a short visit, where he was warmly received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The two leaders held talks focusing on strengthening bilateral relations across multiple sectors.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions resulted in agreements to enhance defence ties, expand trade, and secure long-term energy cooperation.

Both countries agreed to raise bilateral trade to $200 billion over the next six years.

In addition, a 10-year agreement was signed under which the UAE will supply India with 500,000 metric tonnes of LNG annually, further deepening energy cooperation between the two nations.

The ministry said both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence and commercial relations, describing the agreements as a significant step toward broadening the strategic partnership between India and the UAE.
