Neha Kakkar announces break from work, clarifies marriage amid divorce rumours
Singer Neha Kakkar sparked widespread concern and speculation on Monday after she announced a sudden break from her personal and professional life on Instagram, only to delete the posts minutes later.

The move quickly led to rumours about trouble in her marriage to singer Rohanpreet Singh, prompting Neha to issue a detailed clarification later the same day, urging people not to drag her husband or family into the matter.

On Monday, Neha took to Instagram Stories to announce that she was stepping away from everything for the time being. In her first post, she wrote, “Time to take a break from responsibilities, relationships, work and everything I can think of right now. Not sure if I’ll be back or not. Thank you.”

She followed it up with another message requesting privacy from photographers and fans. “I request paparazzi and fans not to film me at all. I hope you respect my privacy and let me live freely in this world. No cameras plz! I request! This is the least you all can give me for my peace.”
However, both Stories were deleted from her handle shortly after being posted.

The posts came weeks after Neha and her brother Tony Kakkar were heavily trolled for their song Candy Shop, which drew criticism online for its “cheap” and “vulgar” dance moves, with many accusing the duo of unsuccessfully trying to copy K-pop artists. The backlash added to a series of controversies surrounding the singer in recent months.

Soon after Neha’s break announcement, social media users began speculating about possible turmoil in her personal life, with divorce rumours involving her husband Rohanpreet Singh gaining momentum. Neha and Rohanpreet got married in 2020.

Later on Monday, Neha returned to Instagram Stories to issue a clarification, addressing the narrative that had begun to form around her marriage. She wrote, “Guys plz don't drag my Innocent Husband or my Sweetest Family in all this plz! They are the purest people I know and whatever I am today, it's because of their support.”

She further explained that her frustration was directed elsewhere, adding, “It's a few other people and the system that I'm upset with. I hope you get it and let my husband and my family stay out of all this and yes I agree I shouldn't be so emotional when it comes to posting on social media coz media people know very well ke ‘Rai ka pahaad kaise banaya jaata hai’ (how a molehill is made into a mountain). Lesson learnt.”

Neha went on to state that she would no longer speak about her personal life publicly. “Ab se I'm Not going to talk about my personal life bhaisahab!!!! Bechari Emotional Nehu is too Emotional for This World! Sorry and Thank you My NeHearts. Don't worry, I'll be back soon with a BANG! Much love.”

Neha Kakkar began singing bhajans at the age of four to support her family and later rose to fame after participating in Indian Idol. Over the years, she has delivered several popular Hindi tracks including Aankh Maarey, Dilbar, Hauli Hauli and Morni Banke, and is now a regular judge on music reality shows. In 2025, she also made headlines after a video of her breaking down on stage during a Melbourne concert went viral, an incident she later said was misrepresented.
