FIA summons PTI chief in US cipher probe on July 25

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday summoned former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in connection with the investigation into the US cipher issue, reported the 24NewsHD Tv channel.

The move comes shortly after the principal secretary to the deposed prime minister, Azam Khan, refuted the PTI chief Imran Khan’s cipher narrative as “baseless”.

An FIA officer dropped the summon at PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s residence at Zaman Park in Lahore.

The FIA has initiated the investigation in connection with the US cipher on the order of the federal Interior Ministry.

Khan has been asked to appear at the FIA headquarters on July 25 and bring documents related to the case with him.

The FIA has been investigating the cipher case since last year. The case relates to an alleged plot by the United States (US) to overthrow the PTI government.

In the summons, the FIA warned the PTI chairman that action will be taken against him if he fails to appear.
