One youth drowned, other rescued in Kharian

One youth drowned while second was rescued from Jehlum River in Mohri area of Kharian, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel on Sunday. 

The rescued official confirmed that three friends had gone to bathe in the River Jhelum near Narowal Sharif to beat the heat. One of the friends was from Bhuwanj, while the other two were residents of Mohri Sharif, Kharian.

During the bathing, 21-year-old Salman drowned in the river while bathing in the small water. The two friends on the riverbank called out for help to nearby cattle herders. Many locals from Narowal and Khudriala rushed to the scene to assist them. 

Rescue 1122 teams launched a search operation, but despite repeated efforts, they were unable to recover the dead body. The rescue operation was stopped due to darkness after evening. According to sources, it will be resumed tomorrow morning.
