Child Protection Bureau, Kinnaird College sign MoU on child welfare
The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Punjab and Kinnaird College for Women have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in child protection, education, rehabilitation, skills development and research.
The agreement was signed by Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Chairperson and MPA Sarah Ahmed and Kinnaird College Principal Prof. Dr Iram Anjum.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ahmed said providing children with a safe environment, quality education and equal opportunities for development was a priority of the Punjab government under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision.
She said the bureau was working with educational institutions to improve the rehabilitation, education, professional skills and personality development of children in its care.
Under the agreement, Kinnaird College students will be offered internships, practical training and volunteer opportunities at institutions operated by the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau.
Ahmed said the initiative would allow students to gain practical experience in child protection and welfare while contributing to programmes supporting vulnerable children.
The two institutions will also organise educational, psychological, technical and modern skills training programmes for children under the bureau’s care.
They will jointly work on child welfare research, awareness campaigns, knowledge exchange and initiatives aimed at improving protection and rehabilitation services.
Ahmed said the confidentiality of children’s personal information and case records would be maintained in all activities conducted under the partnership.
She added that the safety, dignity and best interests of children would remain the primary consideration throughout the collaboration.
“Connecting young people with the field of child protection is an important step towards building a safe, empowered and responsible society,” she said.
Prof. Dr Iram Anjum said Kinnaird College would extend all possible cooperation to the bureau in promoting social responsibility and child welfare.
She said the partnership would provide students with practical experience and enable them to play a positive and effective role in child protection initiatives.
The MoU will remain in force for three years and may be extended or amended with the mutual consent of both institutions.
Officials said the collaboration would strengthen joint efforts aimed at the rehabilitation, education and skills development of children and help create better opportunities for their future.
