The Lahore High Court has issued a notice to Punjab IG Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan for non-compliance of court order while seeking a reply from him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Shahid Waheed of the LHC on Monday was hearing a contempt of court petition filed by Muhammad Umar Rafiq against IGP Rao Sardar for not obeying the court order.
The petitioner stated that a case was registered against some people regarding property issue on baseless charges with the connivance of SP city and SHO Shafiqabad police station.
He said that he filed an application seeking an inquiry against the above-mentioned police officials. He also submitted applications to the IGP and other police officers but no one paid heed to his request and then he filed a petition in the Lahore High Court.
The petitioner further said that the court on May 27, 2022 had sent his application to the IGP directing him to take action on it according to the law. But since the IGP is not taking any action on his request, he is disobeying the court order, the petitioner said beseeching the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the IG police.
