Bangladesh thrash Pakistan by 23 runs in T20 Women World Cup

Pakistan suffered their third consecutive defeat in the Women’s T20 World Cup after losing to Bangladesh by 23 runs in a crucial group-stage match at  Manchester on Saturday, 24NewsHD TV reported. 

Chasing a modest target of 124 runs, Pakistan failed to build on a promising start and could only manage 100 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Pakistani innings began steadily, with the opening pair putting together a 49-run partnership for the first wicket.

However, the batting line-up struggled after the breakthrough, losing wickets at regular intervals and failing to maintain the required scoring rate.

Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack kept the Pakistani batters under pressure throughout the chase, preventing them from recovering after the early setback.

As a result, Pakistan finished on 100/8, falling 23 runs short of the target and registering their third successive loss in the tournament. 

Earlier, Bangladesh, after winning the toss, piled up 124 for 6 in their mandatory overs. 

Speaking after the toss, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana said her team would aim to post a competitive total on the board.

She also confirmed one change in the playing XI, with Sanjeeda Akter replacing Sultana Khatun for the match.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana revealed that her side had made two changes to the lineup.

Syeda Jabin and Tasmia Rubab have returned to the team for the crucial fixture.

Fatima Sana said Pakistan's primary objective would be to restrict Bangladesh to a low score and then chase the target confidently.

She expressed hope that her bowlers would deliver a disciplined performance and provide the team with a strong start in the contest.

Both teams are looking to secure a vital victory as the race for qualification in the Women’s T20 World Cup intensifies.
