Faysal Quraishi voices concerns about future of entertainment industry
Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi has voiced concerns about the future of Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
Bashir Momin actor urged authorities to revisit policies that could impact local productions and employment opportunities.
In a video message, the veteran actor acknowledged the efforts of the federal and provincial governments to support the film and television sector.
However, he also pointed out what he described as a contradiction in the latest budget measures.
He argued that while authorities speak about promoting local content, certain decisions may end up benefiting foreign productions instead.
Faysal added that Pakistani dramas have become a significant cultural export, attracting audiences not only within Pakistan but also across countries including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
According to him, the industry's growing international reach makes it even more important to safeguard local productions and the people who depend on them for their livelihoods.
Highlighting the economic impact of television projects, he noted that a single drama production provides work for a large number of individuals, including actors, writers, directors, technicians, makeup artists, production staff, and vendors.
He argued that reducing opportunities for local productions could affect thousands of workers and their families.
The actor also addressed the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, particularly its impact on dubbing artists.
He explained that new AI technologies can now replicate voices and generate dubbed content without requiring human performers.
Faysal raised concerns about future employment opportunities for professionals working in the field.
Concluding his message, Faysal appealed to policymakers to review the relevant decisions and ensure that local talent remains protected.
He stated that supporting Pakistan’s entertainment industry is not only about promoting creative content but also about preserving jobs.
