Govt sets wheat support price for Punjab at Rs1,800 per 40kg

The federal government has set the wheat support price for Punjab at Rs1,800 per 40kg.
Federal Minister for Food Security Fakhar Imam says minimum wheat support price for Punjab will be Rs1,800 per 40kg. He said the government will keep strategic reserves of one million tonnes of wheat.
Punjab Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said never ever in Punjab’s history the government increased the wheat support price by Rs400 per 40kg. He said the government would not allow increase in the flour price despite increase in the wheat price.
Fakhar Imam said the decision to set the wheat price for Punjab at Rs1,800 per 40kg was taken at a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair. He said that last year the wheat production stood at 25.2 million tonnes and this year the target is 26.2 million tonnes.
