Man, dacoit killed in Karachi firing incidents

Many people injured for resisting robberies: 21 people shot dead for putting up resistance to robbery bids in current year so far

Two people including a dacoit were killed and at least eight others including two police officers were injured in different firing incidents in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to police, a youth named Nabeel, who was shot at and injured by dacoits on resistance on February 27 last, succumbed to his wounds in Jinnah Hospital.

Nabeel, a resident of Shadman Town, and an employee at a private company, had come to Saleem Centre to meet a friend of him when dacoits attempted to rob him of valuables.

They shot at and injured him for putting up resistance. He had been on ventilator in Jinnah Hospital for the past many days and died on Sunday (today).

It is to be noted here that at least 21 people have died in firing by dacoits for putting up resistance to robbery bids during the current year.

On the other hand, Rangers and police in a joint operation eliminated a suspect for firing shots at police officers in Landhi.

According to police, the accused had fired shots at a station house officer (SHO) and two policemen at Dawood Chowrangi, Landhi. A policeman named Nadeem was critically injured in the firing incident.

The accused also resorted to indiscriminate firing when the teams of Rangers and police surrounded his house for his arrest.

The exchange of fire between the accused and the law enforcement agencies continued for two hours in which the former died.

Police identified the deceased as Majeed. They also recovered arms from his possession.

On the other hand, seven people including a police officer were injured in different firing incidents occurred within two hours in Karachi.

The firing incidents took place in the areas of Surjani Town, Mithadar, Bin Qasim and Korangi.

Two persons, including a police officer, were injured in aerial firing at a wedding party in Railway Colony, Mithadhar. Police reached the spot and arrested the bridegroom and his father.

Meanwhile, three people were injured in a mysterious shooting incident in Surjani Town.

In Nasir Colony of Korangi, robbers shot at and injured a person on resistance.

In Bin Qasim Naseerabad, robbers opened fire on a person on resistance and fled away.
