PTI leaders evade arrests during late-night police raids

The Lahore police raided houses of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders including Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and others last night but could not arrest them as they were not at their homes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The police late last night conducted raids at the houses of different PTI leaders including Musarrat Cheema and Shah Mehmood but could not apprehend them as they were not home. 

In her Twitter message, Musarrat Cheema wrote: “Punjab Police is repeating the history of May 25 and once again attacking our homes. The police are currently outside our house and as usual without a warrant.”

She also shared a video of police officials standing outside her house.  

In another tweet, she said: “Dozens of policemen are outside our house to harass women and children without any warrant.”

The police also raided the house of PTI leader and former federal minister Shafqat Mehmood. But according to his family, Shafqat Mehmood was not at home. 

Police stayed at his home for quite a long time, but when he did not show up, they left. 

Besides, police also conducted raids at the houses of PTI leaders including Malik Waqar Ahmad Gujjar, Mehr Naeem Ullah Taj and Kiran Nadeem.

Islamabad police Sunday night also raided the house of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan's Chief of Staff Senator Shibli Faraz.

The PTI spokesperson said in a statement on Sunday night that the house of Senator Shibli Faraz, Chief of Staff of Imran Khan, was raided in Islamabad.

The PTI spokesperson said Islamabad Police searched Senator Shibli's house and harassed the family and employees present in the house at the time of the raid.

The PTI spokesperson confirmed that Imran khan's Chief of Staff Senator Shibli Faraz was not present in Islamabad.

Fawad condemns raids, arrests

Former information minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry condemned the arrests of party workers, especially the children and lamented violation of the sanctity of home.

Imran warns police, announces to hold rally on Wednesday 

Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan castigated ‘police brutality’ and warned them that they would be held accountable. 

In his Twitter message, the PTI chairman said: “Every time I go out I get an FIR registered, so far 96 FIRs have been registered against me. 

“Will they stop my movement? God willing, I am holding a meeting in "Minar-e-Pakistan" on Wednesday. You all should come there. These thieves and looters will see where Pakistan is standing today.”
