Pakistan to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow as Shawwal moon is sighted

Pakistan will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow (Saturday) after the moon marking the start of the Islamic month of Shawwal 1447 AH was sighted on Friday, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday. 

The sighting confirms the end of the holy month of Ramadan, with Eid-ul-Fitr to be observed across the country on Saturday.

Authorities said the Shawwal crescent was sighted in Pakistan on Friday evening, paving the way for nationwide Eid celebrations the following day.

Several other countries in Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Oman and India, are also set to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Saturday, March 21, in line with local moon-sighting announcements.

Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar, marks the conclusion of Ramadan and is traditionally celebrated with special prayers, family gatherings and charitable giving.
