PM Shehbaz, Uzbek President exchange Eid greetings, discuss regional tensions

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday held a telephone conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during which the two leaders exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

During the cordial call, the prime minister conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the Uzbek president and the people of Uzbekistan, which were warmly reciprocated. President Mirziyoyev also extended his best wishes to the prime minister and the people of Pakistan.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the successful outcome of the Uzbek president’s recent visit to Pakistan last month, noting that continued progress on key decisions taken during the visit would further strengthen bilateral relations.

They also discussed the evolving situation in Iran and the Gulf region, underscoring the need for immediate de-escalation. Both leaders stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve ongoing tensions and maintain regional stability.
