Govt clarifies reports about removal of Dr Zafar Mirza

The government on Tuesday denied reports that Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Zafar Mirza has been removed from his office.
According to a press release issued by the Press Information Department of the Government of Pakistan late on Tuesday evening, there is no truth in reports about removal of Dr Zafar Mirza as SAPM.
The press release reads: “A section of the media aired the news today about removal of Dr Zafar Mirza as SAPM on health. It is a totally fake and unfounded story.
“It has been observed that for the last few days fake news about important appointments and removals are circulating on social media and some of them are even picked up by the mainstream media, causing uncertainty. Please note that any such news may be verified before airing/publishing.”
