'Raaz-e-Ulfat' review: The beginning of an unconventional love story
Drama serial Raaz-e-Ulfat has us hooked since the very first episode due to its engaging plot and very relatable storyline.
Directed by Siraj ul Haq, this intense family saga produced by maestros Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi stars amazing actors such as Yumna Zaidi, Shehzad Sheikh, Komal Aziz, Hina Bayat, Arisha Razi, Gohar Rasheed, and Kiran Haq.
With seven episodes down, the drama gets more intense and powerful with each new episode, which makes viewers keenly interested in knowing what’s going to happen next in the story.
The play mainly revolves around Mushk, a naïve daughter to a strict father and a doting mother.
Ambitious to study further after intermediate, the innocent girl convinces her father Iftikhar and achieves permission to study for Masters in a university.
But, challenges await the young lady as she befriends, Sehba (Komal Aziz), an elite, modern, and an impulsive person. Apparently, friends with Mushk, Sehba deep down in her heart is jealous of Mushk’s simplicity and lifestyle and want to change her for the bad.
This week’s episode showed how Mushk is gradually falling into Sehba’s trap which is playing all her cards to turn Mushk against her age-old family values and lifestyle.
Ignited by Sehba, Mushk has begun to feel bad about her life and is gradually moving towards waging war against her father's set rules.
Moreover, Mushk has developed feelings for Irtiza Hassan, who is also in love with the innocent girl and wishes to marry her. Sehba is trying to exploit Mushk’s liking for Irtiza to convince her of going against her parents.
To add fuel to the fire, the cunning girl has organized a party for friends and invited Mushk to the event. She has also sent over an invitation to Irtiza to come over to the party. While Mushk has been outright refused by her strict father to attend such parties, it seems the girl will dare to go to the party to meet Irtiza and eventually land herself into hot waters.
Meanwhile, Gohar Rasheed’s character Ismail is facing his own set of miseries as his cancer-stricken wife Gaiti loses consciousness and is admitted to the hospital.
Our guessing game predicts that Ismail and Mushk will cross paths further down the story. We feel that Mushk and Irtiza’s love story will create a major upheaval in the female protagonist’s life, and she might be forced to marry Ismail, who is a reliable confidant to her father.
As always, Yumna Zaidi stole the show with her gullible and innocent avatar. The uber-talented actress makes every story worth a watch.
Shehzad Sheikh also gave out brilliant performance as a passionate lover with his on-point acting and flawless facial expressions. Yumna and Shehzad’s on-screen chemistry is indeed very refreshing to watch.
We love Raaz e Ulfat so far and eagerly looking forward to how Mushk and Irtiza’s love story will unfold further.
