Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional Chairman of Punjab Dr Muhammad Arshad on Wednesday demanded the State Bank of Pakistan to reduce the number of holidays for commercial banks.
Talking to newsmen in Lahore, he said that giving long holidays to banks in the current scenario was unintelligible.
But he was not alone in making this demand as the traders in Lahore also called for opening of the banks on Friday and Saturday.
Long lines of customers are being witnessed outside the banks across Pakistan as the banking timing has already been reduced to less than four hours due to the Ramazan.
And the occasion of Eid means that the rush at the banks is going to multiply as more and more people are there to withdraw their salaries.
In Islamabad, long queues of customers were witnessed outside the banks and customers demanded the government for opening of banks on Friday and Saturday to reduce the workload and people could easily perform their banking tasks.
