China has said it is opposed to the G20 tourism summit in the disputed territory of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Beijing will not attend meetings in any form in disputed areas, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

Reportedly, India is set to chair the G20 moot this year and organised a number of meetings across the country in the run-up to the summit in New Delhi.

“China is firmly opposed to holding any kind of G20 meetings in the disputed territory and it will not attend next week's G20 tourism summit in IIOJK,” Wang Wenbin said.

Relations between New Delhi and Beijing have been strained since a military clash in Ladakh in 2020 in which 24 soldiers were killed.
