Field Marshal Asim Munir dedicates historic honour to nation, armed forces and martyrs
Newly-promoted Field Marshal Asim Munir has expressed deep gratitude to Allah Almighty, the President, Prime Minister, and the Federal Cabinet after receiving the nation’s highest military rank, dedicating the honour to the people of Pakistan and the valiant men and women of the country’s armed forces, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel Tuesday.
In a statement following the federal cabinet’s decision to elevate him to the rank of Field Marshal, General Munir said, “I am grateful to Allah Almighty for receiving this honour. This is not an individual achievement but a collective honor for the entire nation and the Armed Forces of Pakistan, especially our civil and military martyrs and veterans.”
He thanked the President of Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the federal cabinet for placing their trust in him.
“This honour is the trust of the nation, for which millions of Asims have sacrificed themselves,” he said, in reference to the countless Pakistani soldiers and citizens who have laid down their lives for the country.
Field Marshal Munir emphasised that his promotion was a tribute not just to one man, but a recognition of the unwavering spirit, courage, and unity of Pakistan’s defence forces and people.
“This is the nation’s honour, and I dedicate it wholeheartedly to them,” he said.
