Shan Baig reacts to debate over Pakistani stars’ Cannes outfits
Pakistani actor and influencer Shan Baig has now joined the ongoing debate surrounding "Pakistani celebrities appearances at the Cannes Film Festival".
The conversation started after actress and host Mishi Khan criticised Pakistani celebrities outfits at Cannes.
She questioned why stars do not represent traditional Pakistani clothing more strongly on international platforms.
Mishi pointed out that Pakistan has beautiful cultural outfits like shalwar kameez, gharara, and sharara, and questioned why celebrities often prefer modern red carpet looks instead.
Soon after Mishi Khan’s criticism, Shan Baig shared his opinion through his Instagram story.
Sharing his thoughts, Shan Baig wrote that Cannes is “an international film festival, not a Mehndi function.”

He further explained that global events like Cannes come with their own fashion codes, styling standards and red-carpet culture.
Shan Baig also stated that representation of a country is not limited to wearing traditional clothes only.
