Court annuls decision to send Cocaine Queen Anmol alias Pinky on judicial remand

Accepting the review petition filed by an investigation officer (IO) against sending an alleged drug dealer, Anmol alias Pinky, to jail on judicial remand in a case registered against her at Garden police station of Karachi, a sessions court in Karachi South on Wednesday declared the court’s decision null and void, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

However, the court rejected the review plea filed against the judicial remand of Pinky’s accomplices Sohail and Zeeshan.

During the hearing, the IO said that Pinky’s accomplices Zeeshan and Sohail had been taken into custody on May 16, and were then produced before the duty magistrate on the same day. “And despite the fact that physical remand of both these suspects was sought, the magistrate sent them to jail on judicial remand,” he said, adding that for interrogation, physical remand of both of them was necessary.

The IO further said that some important proof had been recovered from the accomplices’ cellphones.

The judge, on the occasion, observed that the magistrate, by passing a ‘confusing’ order in Pinky’s case, committed an illegal act. “Therefore, the decision to send her to jail on judicial remand is annulled,” he said, and added, “However, cellphones of co-suspects in the case have already been confiscated. And therefore, there is no need to remand them in the police’s custody.”

Two personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday appeared before the SSP Investigation in the case of Anmol, alias Pinky, an alleged drug dealer, who had been arrested from Karachi last week, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Cellphones of both personnel, namely Kafeel and Ali Qureshi, were confiscated before questioning as investigators look to expand the scope of investigation.

On Tuesday, 24News TV channel reported that new revelations in the 'Cocaine Queen' case had revealed that Anmol, or Pinky, married her second husband, a former police inspector, after he arrested and released her in Lahore. 

The officer pressured her to divorce her first husband before they tied the knot.

Investigators from Lahore Police alleged that Pinky’s former husband, identified as Nasir, trained her in the production of cocaine before the pair allegedly expanded their operations across Lahore and Karachi.

Police sources claimed Nasir moved to Lahore with his two brothers, Mansoor Advocate and Shehroz, where the family initially became involved in guest house and liquor businesses before allegedly entering the cocaine trade.

Police sources further alleged that Nasir, along with his brothers, a friend named Irfan and his brother-in-law, later established a wider narcotics network.

The investigation also brought renewed attention to former police inspector Rana Akram, who police sources alleged had first detained Pinky and her associate Kiran before releasing them after receiving a bribe.

Police sources further claimed that Pinky later divorced Nasir in 2021 at Rana Akram’s insistence before marrying the former inspector.

A day earlier on Monday, a judicial magistrate in Karachi extended the physical remand of alleged drug trafficker Anmol, widely known as “Cocaine Queen” Pinky, by four more days in connection with a murder case registered at Baghdadi Police Station.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the proceedings were held inside the Central Jail complex under strict security arrangements after authorities transferred the suspect from Baghdadi Police Station earlier today.

During the hearing, the investigating officer informed the court that a murder case had been registered against the accused and requested further physical remand for interrogation and investigation purposes.

The Judicial Magistrate South accepted the request and granted police an additional four-day remand.

Earlier in the day, the accused claimed before journalists and her lawyer inside the courtroom that she had been taken into custody nearly 20 days ago and subjected to torture during detention.

Meanwhile, Darakhshan Police also approached the sessions court against an earlier judicial remand order, arguing that investigators required physical custody of the accused for questioning in serious criminal cases.

Police officials maintained that the previous decision to send the accused to jail instead of granting physical remand had affected the investigation process.

Following initial proceedings, the hearing continued behind closed doors because of the sensitive nature of the case and heightened security concerns surrounding the accused.

Speaking to her lawyer inside the courtroom, Pinky alleged that she had been assaulted while in custody and claimed that an investigating officer slapped her shortly before she was brought into court. She further alleged that police officials instructed her not to mention certain videos connected to the case.

During informal interaction with journalists in the courtroom, Pinky claimed she had been pressured to name individuals, including actor Muneeb Butt and Raja Pervez.

Pinky, who was produced in court on the completion of three-day physical remand on Saturday, insisted she was innocent and that she was implicated in false cases.

Judicial Magistrate Central approved physical remand of Anmol till May 22.

She also alleged that she was tortured during custody. When she was produced in the court of Special Magistrate, South, her face was covered with a piece of cloth.

Investigation officers (IOs) from Darakhshan police and Gizri police reached the court to seek physical remand of the suspect in five and six cases, respectively.

Maqbool Mehr, the investigation officer from Darakhshan police station, said that FIRs had been registered against the drug dealer in 2021, 2022 and 2025, while the IO from Gizri police station said that six cases had been registered against Pinky at the police station in 2021 and 2022.

Pinky told the court that she had been implicated in 20 to 25 bogus cases. “Police had picked me up from Lahore 22 days back,” she said, and added that for 15 days she remained in the Force’s custody and it was only five days ago that she had been produced in court.

Pinky accused the police of arranging drugs before taking her into custody so that it could be propagated that these had been recovered from her possession.

She alleged that she had been pressurized to admit that she was a drug supplier, and if she did not, her family would be kidnapped.

The drug dealer further said that there was also pressure on her to name a man who lives in Bani Gala as her customer. “The fact of the matter is that I am innocent, and I have nothing to do with supplying drugs,” the suspect said, and alleged that her ex-husband was trying to implicate her in false cases.

When the judge questioned her why her husband was doing all this, the drug dealer replied it was because she had left him.

The suspect’s lawyer said that his client should have been produced in court on Friday. “Instead, she has been produced today,” he added.
