AGP unveils mega corruption in PM’s Corona Relief Package of Rs314b

Auditor General of Pakistan’s (AGP) report on expenditure incurred during Corona was released on Saturday in which financial irregularities of billions of rupees were revealed in the funds allocated for Coronavirus.
According to a report released by the Auditor General of Pakistan, contracts were made in violation of the law while purchasing items to provide relief to the people.
The distribution of large sums of money in the name of 140 dead persons during Corona was also revealed in the report.
The report disclosed that the procurement of resource management system violated the procurement rules and 26,555 persons from Punjab were facilitated through forgery.
The Auditor General of Pakistan has also declared illegal the distribution of Rs1.59 billion in purchases made in the name of corona in various sectors.
The report also termed the payment of Rs6.84 billion as suspicious and declared financial irregularities of millions of rupees were committed in the purchase of the ventilator.
The report said that the Prime Minister issued relief orders of Rs314 billion but Finance Division did not release complete funds.
While the report reveals that the Utility Stores Corporation has also purchased unhealthy ghee from Food Authority and also purchased sugar and aata from black listed flour mills.
The report further disclosed that poor quality PPE kits were purchased and 86,211 government employees were illegally paid more than Rs1.84 billion.
The audit report also reveals that more than Rs 6.164 million was distributed to 1347 undeserving rich people on which the audit authorities have ordered recovery.
