Police still in the dark over woman’s murder in DHA Karachi

Police have arrested an accused in connection with a murder case in which they found a corpse of a woman in water drum in an empty plot in Phase VII area of Defence Housing Authority in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Police on Saturday recovered an unidentified body of a woman wrapped in a plastic bag from a water drum in the Defence area.

DIG South Asad Raza said that police arrested an accused, Adil, in connection with the murder of the woman, who was a domestic worker.

The police officer said that the slain woman was identified as Wazir Mai alias Haseena, aged between 25 to 30 years, who belonged to Bahawalpur. She was married to a man in Bahawalpur. But she came to Karachi to live with one Sohaib and Hazratullah.

According to the initial statement of arrested accused Adil, when he reached home along with Hazratullah, Haseena was already murdered. Her body was in water drum. He confessed that he and Hazratullah put a lid on the drum and threw it in an empty plot.

Accused Adil told police that Sohaib killed Haseena. When Sohaib came to the house, Haseena was talking to someone on phone. Sohaib flew into rage and murdered her.

DIG South Asad Raza said that the slain woman’s husband lives in Bahawalpur and police have asked him to come to Karachi for the registration of the case. If the husband chooses not to come, then the police will be the complainant in the case, the DIG added.

Asad Raza said that police are trying to arrest other accused – Sohaib and Hazratullah. He said that Hazratullah has fled to Jhandola.

The police officer further said that accused Adil helped the murders to dispose of the body.
