Partial relief as Pakistan-Afghanistan Friendship Gate reopens for empty trucks at Chaman Border

Important progress has been made toward easing tensions at the Chaman Border, as empty Pakistani trucks and containers stranded in Afghanistan have been allowed to return through the Bab-e-Dosti (Friendship Gate), official sources confirmed Monday.

According to border administration officials, the route has been temporarily opened to permit the entry of empty vehicles back into Pakistan. However, commercial trade and pedestrian movement remain suspended until further notice.

The decision provides much-needed relief to dozens of Pakistani drivers and transporters who had been stranded on the Afghan side for several days following the closure of the border.

Officials said that a final decision on the full reopening of the Chaman Border is expected after upcoming talks between Pakistani and Afghan authorities.

The Chaman crossing, one of the main trade and transit points between Pakistan and Afghanistan, has witnessed intermittent closures in recent months due to security and administrative concerns, affecting bilateral trade and travel.
