PIA and Etihad Airways sign landmark codeshare agreement to expand global reach

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Etihad Airways have signed a historic codeshare agreement that will significantly expand PIA’s international flight network and service offerings.

The agreement, which will be formally implemented on October 31, marks a major milestone for the national carrier.

Under the partnership, the codeshare will cover both passenger and cargo services, enabling PIA to offer wider connectivity through Etihad Airways’ extensive global network — especially on routes where PIA does not currently operate directly.

A key feature of the agreement includes the Frequent Flyer Program, which will allow PIA passengers to earn and redeem points across the shared network, offering enhanced convenience and travel benefits.

PIA officials hailed the development as a crucial step toward modernization and financial recovery, saying the collaboration will not only increase revenue but also provide passengers with seamless travel options across multiple destinations worldwide.

The agreement represents a major stride in PIA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with leading global airlines and elevate its international service standards.
