Eight dead as academy roof collapsed in Pindi Bhattian

Eight people, including seven children, breathed their last when the roof of an academy collapsed in Pindi Bhattian on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources said that more children have been trapped under the rubble.

Residents of the area started a rescue operation on a self-help basis.

Later, Rescue workers joints the operation to find the remaining children and staff who might have been buried under the rubble.

The injured and the deceased have been transported to a nearby hospital.

As per initial reports more than 10 people including eight children were present inside the building when its roof caved in. The rescue personnel feared that the death toll may go up.

Woman dies in Karachi

In another incident, a woman died on the spot, and another became seriously injured when the plaster of the roof of their house collapsed in Karachi.

The incident occurred in the Lyari area of Karachi at 10 am. The deceased was later identified as Sana, 33.

Rescue sources said that the process is underway to determine the identity of the injured woman.
