The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has lined up at least 16 flights to bring back jobless and stranded Pakistanis from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to an estimate, around 35,000 Pakistanis are in the queue in different countries to return home amid suspension of flight operation globally due to the coronavirus pandemic. Keeping in view this high number of Pakistanis stranded abroad, the PIA is going to operate special flights to the United Kingdom, Canada, African countries, United States of America, Germany, Australia and South Korea to bring them back home.

The PIA brought back at least 1,800 Pakistanis stranded in different countries between April 4 and April 11 and now 6,000 Pakistanis are being brought home from different countries this week.

As the PIA continues to operate special flights to different countries to bring the stranded Pakistanis back, it is said that Prime Minister Imran Khan himself is monitoring the flight operation. The government says it is committed to extending its full support to overseas Pakistanis stranded in different countries. It says that PIA’s pilots and crew are taking risks even in these critical times to bring the Pakistanis home.
