NAB summons Aslam Iqbal, Samiullah in sugar scandal case

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has summoned Punjab Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment Mian Aslam Iqbal and former Punjab minister for food Samiullah Chaudhry in sugar scandal case on May 4, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Quoting sources, the TV channel reported that NAB’s combined investigation team would interrogate the Punjab minister for commerce and investment.
The sources divulged that Mian Aslam Iqbal, who belongs to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), has also been asked to bring with him the record of giving subsidy on sugar in 2018 and 2019.
Similarly, he has been directed to give reasons for giving a green signal to the export of sugar.
The bureau has also sought from him and Samiullah Chaudhry details of the subsidy granted to the sugar mill owners in Punjab.
The NAB is investigating the sugar scam under the Money Laundering Act of 2010.
