PTCL Group posts Rs3.1b profit in Q1 2026, signals turnaround after years
The PTCL Group on Tuesday announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2026, reporting a net profit of Rs3.1 billion—marking a significant turnaround after years of losses, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chief Executive Officer Hatem Bamatraf shared the details, stating that the group’s profitability reflects improved operational performance and strategic investments. He said the Rs3.1 billion net profit represents a 58 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the results, PTCL Group generated total revenue of Rs31.5 billion during the first quarter, up 6.5pc year-on-year, while operating profit stood at Rs4.6 billion. The company also recorded strong growth in its wireless segment, with revenues rising by 13pc.
Bamatraf highlighted that the group has strengthened its technological footprint by acquiring 180 MHz spectrum for 5G services, positioning itself for future expansion in next-generation connectivity. He added that PTCL has connected Pakistan globally through four international submarine cable systems, enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure.
The CEO said that Ufone continues to maintain a nationwide 4G infrastructure, contributing to the group’s overall performance. Meanwhile, Ubank also posted notable gains, generating revenue of Rs5.8 billion and recording a significant rise in profitability.
Commenting on corporate developments, Bamatraf said PTCL and Telenor Pakistan are currently awaiting regulatory approval for their proposed scheme of amalgamation, which is expected to further consolidate the telecom sector.
