Shehbaz, Hamza summoned by court on August 27
An accountability court in Lahore directed PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and others to appear in person during the next hearing on August 27 in a money laundering case in which his family members are also nominated, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.
The accountability judge, Jawad-ul-Hassan, also ordered the prison administration to present Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz on the same day. Hamza is currently imprisoned in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail.
Other accused persons – including Nisar Ahmed, Qasim Qayyum and Rashid Karamat – are also be presented before the court.
During the hearing, the judge sought an explanation from the investigation officer about the allegations levelled against Suleman Shehbaz, Nusrat Shehbaz, Rabia Imran and Javaria Ali.
The investigation officer should explain during the next hearing that what is the nature of allegations against those who haven’t been arrested, said the accountability court judge.
In this connection, the court also asked the investigation officer why they were not arrested and whether they had joined the probe process or not.
The National Accountability Court (NAB) has filed this case against the PML-N president and his family members, accusing them of money laundering involving an amount of over Rs7 billion. Shehbaz is currently on interim bail in the case.
