PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has been summoned by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for questioning regarding awarding of the contract for the Rawalpindi Metro Bus Project, reported 24NewsHD TV channel, quoting its sources.

The NAB Rawalpindi summoned Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday (August 24).

The summing was in connection the Rawalpindi Metro Bus contract which was awarded to Mustafa Kamal, brother of senior PML-N leader and former minister Ahsan Iqbal.

According to the sources, record shows that the contract was given to Ahsan Iqbal’s brother on Shehbaz Sharif’s directive. There were no documents in the RDA file about the awarding of the contract, the sources added.

It was written in the file that Shehbaz Sharif had ordered to award the contract. The PEPRA rules were also violated while awarding the contract, the sources further said.

It is to be noted that the PML-N president was earlier asked to appear before the NAB in the same inquiry, but he did not show up.

Now the summon has been sent to Shehbaz Sharif’s Model Town residence through the CCPO Lahore to ensure his appearance on August 24 to record his statement.

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) had earlier alleged "Imran Khan is trying to influence the cases against Shehbaz Sharif.”

The party had said the new cases against Shehbaz were a proof of how Imran Khan was scared of Shehbaz Sharif. It said after the failure of NAB-Niazi collusion, the PTI government had started the NAB-FIA circus to persecute and victimise the opposition.
