Pakistan thrash India to lift Under-19 Asia Cup

Pakistan beat India in Under-19 final with 191 runs in Dubai on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. India U19 failed to face Pakistan bowling attack and met with at a big defeat against Pakistan in the U19 Asia Cup 2025 final.

Pakistan U19 bundled out India U19 for just 156 to clinch a convincing 192-run victory in the U19 Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai. It is Pakistan's second title, and first since 2012. Pakistan were powered to a mammoth first innings total of 347/8 in 50 overs, with opener Sameer Minhas smashing a stunning 172 off just 113 balls. Minhas completed his century in just 71 balls, and then registered the record of the highest individual score in an U19 Asia Cup final. In response, India lost their first five wickets inside the first 10 overs, before collapsing to 156 all out. Ayush Mhatre-led India had won every single game upto the final, but failed to secure a record-extending ninth crown. 

After winning the toss, India opted to field, but Pakistan’s batters, led by Minhas, capitalised on the conditions. The right-handed opener produced a commanding knock of 172 runs off 113 balls, reaching his century in just 71 deliveries and dominating the Indian bowling attack throughout his stay at the crease.

Pakistan lost their first wicket early when Hamza Zahoor was dismissed for 18 at 31 runs. Usman Khan added stability with 35 before falling at 123, while Ahmed Hussain contributed a valuable 56 runs before being dismissed at 260. Minhas was finally out at 302, having anchored and accelerated Pakistan’s innings with authority.

Minhas struck 17 fours and nine sixes, creating history by becoming the Pakistan Under-19 batter to score the most runs through boundaries, with 122 of his 172 runs coming in fours and sixes. His innings further cemented his status as the tournament’s standout performer.

Ahead of the final, Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf had expressed confidence in his side’s preparation, saying the team was ready to fight hard for the title. Pakistan reached the final after defeating Bangladesh by eight wickets in the semi-final, while India secured their place with a win over Sri Lanka.

Pakistan have previously won the ICC Under-19 World Cup twice but are yet to claim the Under-19 Asia Cup outright, having shared the title with India in 2012. With Minhas now scoring 299 runs in four matches, including a century and a half-century, Pakistan entered the final in strong form.

The bowling unit has also delivered throughout the tournament, with Abdul Subhan taking 11 wickets and Mohammad Sayyam claiming eight, giving Pakistan confidence of mounting a strong challenge in the title.

Earlier today, India won the toss and elected to field against Pakistan in the final of the Asia Cup Under-19 Cricket tournament in Dubai on Sunday, setting the stage for a keenly contested clash between the arch-rivals.

The match began at 10 am Pakistan Standard Time, with both teams reaching the final after convincing victories in the semi-finals.

Pakistan defeated defending champions Bangladesh, while India overcame Sri Lanka to book their place in the title decider.

Pakistan entered the final with strong form in both batting and bowling. Sameer Minhas has been the standout performer with the bat, scoring 299 runs in four matches, including a century and a half-century, and is expected to play a key role in the final.

The bowling attack has also been consistent throughout the tournament. Right-arm pacer Abdul Subhan has led the wickets tally with 11 wickets in three matches, while left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Sayyam has added further strength with eight wickets.

Ahead of the match, Pakistan Under-19 captain Farhan Yousaf said his side was fully prepared and confident. He said the players were determined to fight hard and make every effort to lift the trophy.

Farhan praised the team’s overall performance in the competition, noting strong fielding, improved batting in the previous match and consistent bowling.

He said the final was a major occasion and that the players were eager to carry forward the momentum by playing aggressive cricket and giving their maximum effort.
