Punjab CM Maryam, Mauritius envoy agree on business-to-business contacts 

High Commissioner of the Republic of Mauritius Munsoo Kurrimbaccus called on Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif warmly welcomed the Ambassador of Mauritius Munsoo Kurrimbaccus. 

The meeting also stressed the importance of business-to-business contacts, trade delegations and organizing exhibitions. 

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her determination to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with Mauritius.

The meeting agreed to further expand relations in the fields of education, tourism, agriculture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Maryam Nawaz expressed best wishes to the Ambassador of Mauritius.

Both leaders agreed to increase cooperation in the fields of halal food, technology and human resources.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her determination to provide all possible cooperation on investment in the blue economy sector.

Maryam Nawaz said government is determined to further increase exports of rice, textiles and pharmaceutical products to Mauritius. 

Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed her commitment to support Mauritius’ established technology in productive cultivation and sugar industry.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif welcomed Mauritius’ investment in Punjab’s tourism sector.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif appreciated Mauritius High Commissioner for his tireless efforts in youth development and against drugs and paid tribute for his educational services.

Pakistan and Mauritius enjoy long-standing friendly relations based on cultural ties and mutual respect, Maryam Nawaz said.

She said there are opportunities for cooperation in human capital development, especially in higher education and professional skills.

Sectors like agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and light engineering have vast potential for trade, Maryam Nawaz said.

More than 100,000 youth are being transformed into skilled workforce through the Skill Development Programme. 

Bilateral trade between Pakistan and Mauritius has witnessed an encouraging growth in recent years, Maryam Nawaz said.

She said Punjab is rich in opportunities in agro-processing, textiles, pharmaceuticals and value-added food products. 

The gradual transition to forest conservation, green transportation and green energy reflects the commitment. Maryam Nawaz said.

Punjab is a rich and diverse tourism hub and inside Lahore, Shahi Qila, Badshahi Masjid, Shalimar Gardens, Noor Mahal and other religious tourist destinations have also become the center of attention, Maryam Nawaz said.

She said Punjab has bravely faced the challenge of devastating floods. 

Punjab is encouraging foreign investment in the tourism sector, she added and would welcome technical cooperation from Mauritius in sugarcane production and value addition, Maryam Nawaz said. 

The High Commissioner said promoting tourism activities will bring Pakistan's true positive image to the world.
