In a significant political development, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have successfully reached a government formation agreement.

The breakthrough comes after intensive negotiations between PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and PML-N President and Prime Minister-designate Shehbaz Sharif. The high-level discussions took place at the residence of Senator Ishaq Dar, where the leaders engaged in crucial talks to solidify the terms of the alliance.

Addressing a late-night press conference along with Asif Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto announced that both parties have reached an agreement to form the government as they have the required numbers.

He said Shehbaz Sharif would be the prime minister candidate while Asif Zardari will be the President of Pakistan.

He thanked PML-N for agreeing to the candidacy of his father Asif Zardari for the slot of President.

Bilawal said PML-N and PPP are going to form the government to get Pakistan out of its problems,

“We pray that the government will be successful,” said Bilawal. “May Allah help us to solve the problems and we will be successful.”

He said the party which is present in the National Assembly in the name of Sunni Ittehad Council did not have the numbers to form the government.

He said both parties will face all problems together.

Addressing the press conference, Shehbaz Sharif said the Independent members who have won, if they can form the government they could do it by showing the majority and they will accept them wholeheartedly.

“We will sit on the opposition benches then according to the constitution,” said Shehbaz Sharif.

Shehbaz said however they don't have the required numbers and they also contacted the Sunni Ittehad but still they don't have the required numbers to form the government.

He said they are in a position to form a new government together with the PPP.

He thanked Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari for their cooperation.

He also thanked Nawaz Sharif for his guidance to help reach this consultation to a fruitful point.

He said they will get Asif Zardari elected as President for five years.

Shehbaz said MQM, IPP and Q-League, all these allies will vote for these posts and they will all take steps with mutual consultation.

He said this alliance has to fight against inflation and has to work for industry and agriculture for economic development and prosperity.

He said today even after 76 years we are living in debt which we have to end.

On the occasion, Zardari said their quest is only for Pakistan and the people and they will bring Pakistan out of difficulties and make it successful for future generations.

Bilawal has said the details of the sharing of key constitutional offices between the PPP and PML-N will come at a later date.
