The Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to not use the Result Transmission System (RTS) during the provincial elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources informed the TV channel on Saturday that the Election Commission has decided to hold elections in both Punjab and KP provinces under the Result Management System (RMS) which had already been used during the 2018 elections.

The commission has already given a contract worth billions of rupees to modify the RMS and the contracting company will hand over the RMS after its modification in two months’ time.

Sources in the ECP said that the new modified RMS would not be used in any election without first using them in the by-elections. However, the general elections in the provinces would be conducted using the old RMS.

Meanwhile, the ECP has decided to undertake the rehearsal of the old RMS before the general elections. For this purpose, a one-day mock exercise would be conducted before the polls in Punjab and KP.

The election commission has started imparting training to its employees regarding use of the RMS.
