Dhoom star Rimi Sen reinvents herself as real estate agent in Dubai

Once a familiar face on the big screen in the early 2000s, actor Rimi Sen has charted a new professional path far from Bollywood. Known for her roles in hit films such as Hungama, Dhoom, Golmaal, Phir Hera Pheri and Johnny Gaddar, Rimi has now transitioned into the real estate business in Dubai, marking a significant shift in her career.

Rimi rose to prominence after featuring in a popular commercial alongside Aamir Khan, followed by a string of successful films that made her a household name. However, like many actors of her generation, her on-screen appearances gradually declined, and she eventually stepped away from the limelight.

After years away from films, she is back in the news, this time for her work in Dubai’s competitive property market. In a recent interview with Buildcaps Real Estate LLC, Rimi Sen spoke candidly about her experience of starting afresh in Dubai and why the city appealed to her.

She described Dubai as “very welcoming,” highlighting its multicultural environment and structured systems.“Dubai has welcomed everyone warmly. There are mosques here, there are temples too.

They think about everyone, and the city’s main focus is on making people’s lives better, easier and more comfortable,” she said, adding that a large portion of the population consists of expatriates.

Rimi also drew comparisons between Dubai and India’s business environments, particularly in real estate. According to her, Dubai’s market functions smoothly due to discipline and clearly defined roles. “Developers do their work, agencies do their part, and there is a proper system in place,” she explained, noting that agents in Dubai are treated with the same respect as financial consultants.

She further pointed out the stark difference in how property agents are perceived. “In India, if you ask for two months’ brokerage, people look at you as if you’ve committed a crime,” Rimi remarked.

Apart from her career shift, Rimi Sen has also been in the spotlight for her changing appearance. Addressing speculation around cosmetic procedures, she previously clarified that she has not undergone plastic surgery. “I’ve only had fillers, Botox and PRP treatment done ..nothing else,” she told Hindustan Times, responding to online chatter about her looks.

Rimi Sen last appeared on the big screen in 2011 in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s action film Shagird. Since then, she has stayed away from films, focusing instead on building a new life and career beyond Bollywood.
