Gigi Hadid shares rare photos of daughter Khai as ex Zayn Malik launches Las Vegas residency
Gigi Hadid has offered an unusually intimate glimpse into her life as a mother, sharing rare photos of her five-year-old daughter Khai while her former partner Zayn Malik launched a major Las Vegas run.
The 30-year-old supermodel posted a 20-photo slideshow described as a "holiday recap," giving fans a look at moments she typically keeps off social media. At the center of the images was Khai Hadid Malik, her daughter with Malik, who appeared as a near mirror image of her famous mother.
One black-and-white photo showed Khai after a dramatic haircut, with Hadid affectionately referring to her daughter as her "lil bestie" and noting she was "ending the year with the big chop she wanted."
Khai, whose name means "crown" in Arabic, was also seen enjoying festive treats, including "Christmas pie and cookies," while spending time with her "Auntie" Bella Hadid.
Alongside the images, Hadid shared an emotional reflection on her life, writing, "Feel very grateful for this life," followed by another message to her massive online following: "Sending everyone a warm Happy New Year hug, and wishing you all a year of joy, peace and fulfillment."
The family-focused post landed the same day Malik, now 33, began a seven-date Las Vegas residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live. Despite their split, the former couple continue to carefully coordinate parenting duties. Hadid has previously explained that they plan their custody arrangements "months in advance."
Speaking to Vogue last March, the half-Palestinian, half-Dutch American model emphasized their cooperative approach, saying, "We help each other out and have each other's backs."
Hadid and Malik’s on-and-off six-year relationship ended in 2021 following an altercation between Malik and Hadid’s mother, Yolanda. Malik later received 360 days of probation and was required to complete anger management and domestic violence programs.
Reflecting on the public scrutiny surrounding their breakup, Hadid admitted, "There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything."
She added that privacy remains a priority, explaining, "And at the end of the day, we're not interested in giving everyone our whole story. What we are interested in is raising our daughter together. With so much respect for each other, and not just as co-parents, but what we've been through together."
While maintaining a respectful co-parenting bond with Malik, Hadid has since moved on romantically. In October 2023, she met actor and filmmaker Bradley Cooper at a children’s party, and the two have reportedly been inseparable ever since, despite Cooper being 21 years older.
Sources recently claimed that the "Is This Thing On" director has already sought approval from both his mother, Gloria Campano, and Hadid’s mother, Yolanda, with plans to propose later this year.
Insiders say "A big reason" the couple wants to marry is their shared desire to raise their children together. Hadid is focused on Khai, while Cooper shares eight-year-old daughter Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper with his former fiancée Irina Shayk.
Cooper and Shayk, who ended their four-year relationship in 2019, reportedly use no nannies and maintain a 50/50 split of both legal and physical custody of their daughter.
