Lahore General Hospital: Rs344 million in additional funds, Rs171.447 million recovered during audit

During the audit of Lahore General Hospital and its affiliated institutions for the financial year 2024–25, the institution generated Rs344 million in additional funds through effective financial management, improved revenue systems, and timely recoveries. In addition, a direct recovery of Rs171.447 million was successfully completed against audit paras.

The Director General Audit Punjab conducted the annual audit from 12 July to 9 August 2025, during which a total of 48 audit paras were raised. Subsequently, verification of audit paras and scheduling of the Special Departmental Accounts Committee (SDAC) meeting were issued through:

  • DG Audit Punjab Letter No. DGA/SDAC/Correspondence/CD-23 dated 04-12-2025, and
  • Internal Audit Wing, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department Letter No. IAW/IID-1-672/2015/12-25 & 01-26 dated 05-12-2025

Verification of audit paras was carried out from 8 to 10 December 2025 at the office of the Director General Audit Punjab, Lahore. The SDAC meeting was held on 18 December 2025 in Conference Room No. II of the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department.

During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed over the institution’s timely recoveries, complete record provision, and transparent financial management. As a result, 13 out of 48 audit paras were settled, achieving a 27% settlement rate.

According to the audit report, these measures not only reflect strong financial discipline but also demonstrate effective utilization of public funds and a significant improvement in institutional performance. The audit team appreciated these initiatives and declared Lahore General Hospital a model of financial transparency and good governance.
